The family and consumer sciences education curriculum prepares you to meet the requirements for certification as family and consumer teachers as well as for employment with cooperative extension and other education agencies.

-Human Resources Manager
-Public Health Educator

Fashion & Interiors Merchandising

A major in Fashion and Interiors Merchandising will prepare you for a career in retailing or merchandising, fashion, apparel, or home furnishings. Students will also take courses leading to a minor in Business Administration.

Graduates of the fashion and interiors merchandising program may find employment as:
-Assistant/Associate Buyer
-Merchandise Coordinator
-Product Developer
-Retail Manager
-Special Events Coordinator
-Visual Merchandiser

Human Nutrition Science

Food and nutrition science prepares you for a career in dietetics, food systems management, or community nutrition. The Didactic Program in Dietetics, accredited by the American Dietetics Association (ADA), prepares you to enter a graduate-level dietetic internship.

A degree in food and nutrition science will prepare you for a career as a:
-Clinical Dietecian
-Consumer Educator
-Food Services Manager
-Pharmaceutical Sales Representative
-School Nutritionist
-Weight Management Specialist

Human Development & Family Studies

The need for quality child care and a growing elderly population has dramatically increased the demand for professionals in human development and family studies. The curriculum is flexible to prepare you for a wide variety of careers.

Career options include:
-Child Life Specialist in a hospital
-Counselor in a child & family services agency
-Caregiver or administrator in a child care or elder care facility

The Marc Cisneros Center for Young Children provides opportunities for you to gain experience in working with preschool age children and their parents in a closely supervised setting.
